I bought Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law on Christmas Eve because my mother needed something to give me. Watched the first disc last night. Crazy shit, it's the weirdest thing ever. It's funny because it is so weird.
Does anyone have Space Ghost Coast To Coast? I wish to pit them against each other in a fight to the death.

You know, I've never cared for Space Ghost. I dunno what it is, but something about that show just annoys me.
Harvey Birdman, on the other hand, is brilliant. Are there any decent extras on the DVD?
(Also, I look forward to the Harvey Birdman game being made by Capcom. For a while there, I was thinking it might be shit, but the videos out there make it look pretty okay. Shame I'll have to import the damn thing, though.)

I mostly agree but there are a few episodes of Space Ghost I've seen that've left me struggling to breathe from laughter.

I have both Harvey Birdman and Space Ghost, and Harvey Birdman is definetly the better of the two. Space Ghost has his moments, but Harvey Birdman is just too much funnier.
Though after Season 3 of Harvey...

All I've ever seen of Space Ghost is the Peter Moore interview from some gaming expo that went up on the net.
Extras? Some commentaries on 4 episodes, some "deleted scenes" which are just bits of nonsense. There's more on the second disc I haven't looked at yet though, will sneak into that section tonight.
How many seasons of Harvey Birdman are there? I've seen two DVD sets out (bought the first one).

There are currently 2 seasons out in Australia, 3 in america. DVD sets that is.
There are currently 4 seasons that were produced, and it has finished production.
According to the eBay, the game is coming out on the 11th of January, so we can expect it by Christmas! Hooray!

Probably should have called this thread "vs Robot Chicken" as it has an interesting looking cover too. No idea what it is though.
I went back to JB to get the second box set but they jacked up the price to $30 and I passed.
I never ever cared for Space Ghost. I don't even really like to have it on as background TV if I'm half-heartedly doing something else. Harvey Birdman is much more entertaining.
... But Robot Chicken trumps all of them. Its the best show of its sort in the universe!

Out of the two, I prefer Harvey Birdman. As other people have said, Spaceghost really has its moments, but lacks consistency.
I'm a big Robot Chicken fan. Also love Tim & Eric Awesome Show Great Job!
Then there's Moral Orel, Sealab 2021, and The Brak Show. Tom Goes To The Mayor is pretty great too.
:arrow:Really recommend you buy Robot Chicken, aubergine.

As much as there is a stigma against adult swim by so called 'intelligent' folks, alot of the shows are really great, most mentioned here. I was always surprised when I found out that they used to play Lupin the 3rd.

You know, I've never cared for Space Ghost. I dunno what it is, but something about that show just annoys me.
I'd wager it's because it served as the primordeal ooze from which the "Stoner Comedy" which makes up the lion's share of Adult Swim's content arose- you know, the shows where the main characters sit around and do nothing for excessively long periods of time whilst conversating in a surly manner. Space Ghost was especially guilty of this; there's a good handful of episodes where absolutely nothing happens at all, like, say, the one where Space Ghost spent the entire show following an ant home, or that one episode endorsing some band's new album, where the guest spent 8 whole minutes playing a furious drum solo, while the visuals alternated between a static "Please stand by" screen and slowly zooming in on Space Ghost's vapid, bewildered facial expression. The producers knew that their target demographic would be lifeless enough to sit through the entirety of their filler, desperately clinging for that one punchline that would justify the whole harrowing experience, yet always failed to deliver.
And yet, it remains one of my favorites shows among it's ilk, probably due to nostalgia above all else. Like nkbswe5 said, the show has it's moments- at it's best, it's a trivial manner to forgive the show for all of it's shortcomings. Case in point, Flipmode (http://tinyurl.com/65s8mf).
Oh, and so long as we're talking about Adult Swim, anyone here ever manage to catch Xavier: Renegade Angel? It wasn't terribly popular, and consequentially, it's run was criminally short, but it was hands down the most entertaining show to ever grace the channel. You'd have to stoop to unsavory means to watch it now, but it must be done.

I liked cartoon planet better than Coast to Coast for just that reason. Harvey Birdman beats both of them, though, for its FURIOUS LEGAL ACTION.
And because it has Peter Potamus. Peter Potamus is completely awesome.

Maybe, but maybe it's the low quality with well done backdrops and offbeat parodies. The main character isn't likeable in the least, he's a stuck up nerd who only cares about his own existance, it's awesome.
Give me some more of these crappy shows and movies, because I like this one.

1) There are not ten million late night sketch shows.
2) I don't understand how children can have late night sketch shows
3) I've never been to acceptable.tv, but now that I have been, it looks interesting.
4) Youtube has a lot of video blogs, clips of real shows, and people trying to become famous on the internet because they have no real talent.
How does any of this 'pander' to internet losers? Let's assume that one billion people have the internet, and a twentieth of these people are 'internet losers' who I assume are people who 'live on the net' and read blogs, know about things like acceptable.tv, and hang out on forums. So that's fifty million people who are 'internet losers'. I have a hard time believing fifty million people, let alone 50 people, have similar taste in shows or movies. If anything, I think these shows cater to stoners. I mean, this may sound like the exact same thing you said, but I'm replacing the word 'internet loser' with stoner, but when you're stoned, who the fuck cares what you're watching. On the same note, I don't often see nerd jokes, except as a passing cultural reference
"Oh Darlene and her myspace"
"It gets me kudos!"
(Audience laughter)
Hollywood doesn't even understand the internet if they put out shit like "The Net" and "Hackers". You know what I do see? People taking riffs out of bongs.
As far as it being overdone, what isn't overdone? The focus shouldn't be on what it's about, because it's all ready been done, but what it does for you. Does it make you laugh? Cry? Think differently? Stare in awe? Then it did its fucking job, the premise be damned.
What does this have to do with anything? Nothing really, except that you're wrong. Dead wrong.

Theres a bit of a difference between not understanding the security underground and/or changing it to be more exciting for movies, and throwing off memes and references.

Ok, so it's all ready been stated that you hate everything, so arguing that there are fun things to watch out there is like talking to a steep incline. That isn't going to stop me.
On the subject of Portal, it isn't for people on the internet, I honestly can't see how you can make that assumption. Portal has no internet meme's, no references to the internet, no nerd jokes, nothing that would make you think it was a parody or referencing pop culture, because it's completely original. After people played the game, they started using stuff from the game to reference how great the game was. Unless of course someone stole a bunch of internet meme's from the future, went back in time, got a job at Valve, and then inserted them into Portal, but time travel's impossible so that rules that out.
Assuming makes an ass out of you and me
No, it makes an ass out of u and ming.
Theres a bit of a difference between not understanding the security underground and/or changing it to be more exciting for movies, and throwing off memes and references.
Why don't they just leave that part out? I mean, I don't expect people to magically fly in the air if doesn't fit in with the storyline. I hate Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
thats a very bad philosophy sir
I'd ask you what you're philosophy is, but I'm not sure it goes past whining about things you don't understand.

It also came with a little goodie: an Adult Swim DVD Sampler. It tonnes of Adult Swim shows, as you might've already guessed. I really liked Harvey Birdman and Tim and Eric's Awesome Show: Great Job! Its hilarious, I couldnt stop laughing. So, ummm, check it out.
Robot Chicken started funny and began dropping in entertainment fast. Tim and Eric Awesome Show: Great Job is so good. Aqua Teen Hunger Force is good once in a while too.

Harvey Birdman is much better than Space Ghost.
I will give credit when it's due however, Space Ghost paved the way with ridiculously absurd comedy that was uninterested in what you thought about it. It just wasn't that sophisticated yet. Along with Dr. Katz, it will provide future generations with an interesting look into the 90's.
Birdman took what Space Ghost accomplished, added Stephen to the mix, and cranked up the funny to 11. Good stuff.

Harvey Birdman is simply brilliant and satirical. Space Ghost is hilariously absurd. Take your pick.
However, Aqua Teen hunger force wins out of all of them. I've been watching it on Adult swim Australia for ages now. Even the game was not horrible.

They are two completely different shows. The only thing they have in common is their IP source. Both are brilliant in their own way. Harvey Birdman has the feeling of an evil genius writing team, while SG:CTC was to comedy what a rock concert is to music.

Ah, the Brak Show. Now that was a good show. They have webisodes on the adult swim website, but you have to live in America to watch them.
