The music festival. I went last night. Loved the bands that I bought the ticket for, enjoyed others that I saw to kill time.
NiN was beautiful. I was worried since last time they came to Brisbane it was like an album perfect performance with no crowd interaction at all. But last night Trent was SO into it, the emotion felt real. It was so awesome. Sad they're going on hiatus, but I glad I got to see them finally :)
Who else from Brisbane went yesterday? Who from other cities are going when it hits their town?

Reznor always puts on an amazing show. Sadly they're "going away for a while" which is a subtle way of saying they broke up. Strange that a single person can "break up". I doubt he'll get away from music forever though, I imagine he'll either pull a Danny Elfman or a Mike Patton.

I actually got into an semi-argument with a friend about how he'll come back when he (most likely) does. I argued that he'd come back as NiN, because he IS NiN. My friend argued that he could pull a Patton and start a new group, but I think that's less likely.

He's already done collaborations before so it's not a stretch. Tapeworm and Saul Williams for example. Saul Williams last album had all it's music made by Reznor actually, the total work for the album was split down the middle 50/50 with Williams. He actually used unused drum loops and other remnants from the Fragile and Tapeworm sessions for it.

I practically cried when i couldn't go due to lack of monies, my favorite band (unearth) are playing, not to mention others like all that remains, opeth, underoath etc.
150 big ones is a bit steep for me.

Sorry to hear you couldn't make it. Unearth was pretty good. I actually had a good vantage point on the back of a park seat under a tree to watch most of the Stage 4 bands from. Sat there for a good portion of the day until stuff I REALLY wanted to see came on.

The random spam reminds me that Soundwave's 2010 line up has had its first announcement. I'm vaguely disappointed, but that's mostly cause there's nothing that screams "YOU MUST SEE ME NOW" in the list.Faith No More My Chemical Romance
Jane's Addiction AFI Paramore
HIM Alexisonfire Taking Back Sunday Trivium
Sunny Day Real Estate Eagles of Death Metal
The Get Up Kids Reel Big Fish Meshuggah All Time Low
A Day to Remember It Dies Today Escape the Fate Clutch
Isis Gallows A Wilhelm Scream The Almost The Aquabats
The Weakerthans Emarosa Anvil The Devil Wears Prada
Comeback Kid Whitechapel Dance Gavin Dance Four Year Strong
You Me At Six Rolo Tomassi Baroness
RX Bandits Maximum the Hormone The Creepshow

I'm thinking about going for AFI and The Creepshow, but I dunno... $130 seems a bit much just for them. I'm hoping for sideshows, but I doubt there'll be many/any in Perth.

I thought it was $150 next year? Early birds were $125...

You may be right. I can't seem to find a ticket price on their website. I think I might have seen the early bird prices and rounded up.

I'm just assuming they're gonna see if they can sell for Big Day Out prices next year... which reminds me, when's BDO's first announcement happening? They still have the '09 site up.

$145 + booking fees and charges. (http://www.soundwavefestival.com/news/general-public-tickets-sale-friday)
So I'm not going. AFI and The Creepshow aren't worth that much money plus all of the rest of the crap that goes along with Soundwave.

So I'm not going.
And it looks like I lied. I've caved in and decided to go (with a little coercion from a friend). I'll be getting my ticket sometime this week.
