Even after my short time in the eegra forums Iīm already aware that some people donīt take kindly to lists. Some lists anyway. I also know there already exists a "What I am listening to" thread, but I think this one could be different enough. The thing is, Iīve just been over here: http://www.furious.com/perfect/staff3.html, reading the lists and enjoying some of them, namely the ones where people give any reasons for liking a certain album or artist.
So hereīs what Iīm proposing: List 1-20 albums you like, in no particular order and write 1-5 sentences of explanation why you like them. Not a review of the album, just enough to maybe make someone want to check it out. They can be albums youīve been treasuring for decades or ones you recently discovered, as long as you know them well enough to know why you like them.
Here is my first list of three:
Geinoh Yamashirogumi - Akira (Soundtrack for the movie)
This is really unique music, Iīve never heard anything quite like it. A mix of traditional Japanese music, percussion, chorals and synths. Iīve been listening to this album for the past three months and love it more and more. Itīs stylish, beautiful and moving and will likely become an all-time favourite of mine.
De de Mouse - Sunset Girls
If you havenīt already, you could listen to octopodcast #3 for a taste of this. It gives me a warm feeling in my stomach and makes me want to be nice to people, while still remaining aloof enough to be listening to moderately obscure Japanese electropop.
The Stooges - Raw Power
"Search and Destroy" is pure destructive poetry, as is the rest of the album. It fully delivers on the promise itīs title makes. Great if you feel like hating clean-living conformists for a bit.
